Reasons to Send Your Child to Private School

Private preparatory school

As a parent, there are a lot of things to think about. That list of decisions starts to add up even before they are born. One of the biggest decisions parents have to face when raising their kids is deciding on whether or not to send them to private or public school. They are both great options, but private schools ultimately offer a bit more than public schools can.

From pricing to class size, to types of classes, there are a bunch of different things that come with attending a private school. Here are some of the things that you get with a private education.

Pricing

One major difference between private schools and public schools is the cost. The cost of a private education can vary, while the cost of a public education is free. This may be the decision maker for many parents when they choose to send their child to public school over private. However, you do get more “perks” with your private education for that cost.

Smaller Class Size

It’s no secret that private schools offer smaller class sizes with individual attention available to each and every student. Most private schools have classes with only 10 to 20 people in them. This is perfect for students who learn better in smaller environments and need the direct teacher attention.

They Don’t Teach to Test

Private schools don’t have to meet the same standards as public schools do in terms of testing. Private schools can, therefore, focus on your child and how they’re doing instead of focusing on if they’re going to pass the end of year tests or not.

They Have the Ability to Teach More than Academics

Many private high schools specialize in specific fields. For instance, if your child is into theatre, sending them to fine arts high school could help them further their future career and maybe someday land a spot in a touring musical. Many times, these kinds of schools are the best schools. They really give your child the chance to broaden their horizons.

When you’re deciding whether or not to send your child to a private or public institution, consider what you value most about education. Do you like the idea of smaller classes with individualized attention? If so, a private school might be the best choice for you and your child.
