Furniture shopping

If you live in a small home of the condo it can be difficult to think up home furnishing styles. Furnishing a condo is all about placement and patterns. When you are planning furniture in a room you have to know certain tips for furnishing a condo. Such as how to make a room look bigger or what kinds of space savers are beneficial. Here are a few tips for furnishing a condo in style.

Home Furnishing Budget
First of all, you need to make sure that you have set your budget and are able to stick to it. Going over budget can be stressful and make decorating and renovating not very enjoyable at all. It doesn’t matter how big or small your budget it, what matters is that it’s reasonable and works to be able to give you a home that you can be proud of without breaking the bank.

Increase Your Storage
Finding storage in a condo can be difficult. There are not usually many places to store your things. Most condos will, however, have a walk-in closet or at least a closet space of some sort. A great way to build some hidden storage is to install a shelf a couple of feet below the ceiling inside the closet. Boxes and medium sized storage items that do not need to be regularly accessed can fit up there. In order to keep the closet looking organized you will want matching, labeled boxes. The labels will make it easy to see everything that is in the closet without having to get down every single box and look through them when you need to find something.

Another great way to provide more storage in a small place is to purchase bed risers that will give you a little bit more room and do your bed. Rolling drawers are a great idea for underneath the bed storage. You can achieve this by attaching wheels to old drawers or purchasing them as it is.

Make Use of Shelving
You don’t want shelves covering every wall because this will make your condo look even smaller. A tall, thin bookshelf in each room is perfect for storing books, documents, etc. and it’s even better if the shelves have a cupboard at the bottom because this will increase your storage space.

Shelves can also be used instead of end tables. For example, if your bed is all the way up against the wall instead of taking up space with the nightstand you could install a corner shelf above the bed and use that as a nightstand instead. The same can be done next to couches and everywhere that you need a flat surface.

Forego the Unnecessary Furniture
One of the best tips for furnishing the condo is to really think about the furniture that you need. Of course you will want beds, couches, etc. but do you really need a dining table? Some condos don’t even have a dining area or it is very small. If this is the case often times there will be a breakfast bar. Instead of having a dining table, invest in some nice bar stools and use the breakfast bar as your dining table. Another idea is to get rid of the coffee table. Use your shelves or over the arm holders for drinks and anything that needs to be put down. Not only will this eliminate the clutter that coffee tables can encourage but it will make the living room appear to be larger.

Find the Right Size Rug
If you don’t have a lot of floor space, there are some helpful tips for furnishing a condo in regards to rugs online. There are certain ways that you can place your rugs to give you room the largest feeling possible.

Keep in mind all the small, typical tips for furnishing a condo such as mirrors and light make a room seem bigger, dark colors and clutter will make it seem smaller, etc. Once you have the basics down, it will not be to hard to figure out what exactly you want to do in order to decorate your condo to look exactly how you want it to. Just because you live in a smaller place doesn’t mean that it can’t be your dream home.
